Target Audience: Speech Language Pathologists
11/5/2024: 5-6:30pm JST (1.5 hours): Assessment of Voice Disorders. Presenter: Katherine Richardson, MA, MM, CCC-SLP
Course Description: This course will cover the current best practices for Speech-Language Pathologists (SLPs) in assessing voice disorders.
Objectives: By the end of this course, participants will be able to: 1. Identify different types of voice disorders. 2. Perform a low-cost voice assessment using materials commonly found in SLP clinics, without the need for specialized equipment.
About the Presenter: Katherine (Kat) Richardson, MA, MM, CCC-SLP, earned her Bachelor's degrees in Music (Vocal Performance) and Linguistics from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. She received her Master’s degree in Communication Science and Disorders from the University of Pittsburgh in 2008, where she was awarded a full graduate research assistantship in the Voice and Motor Learning Lab. After completing her clinical fellowship in 2009, she earned her Certificate of Clinical Competence (CCC) from the American Speech-Language-Hearing Association (ASHA). In 2011, Kat completed a second Master’s degree in Music (Vocal Performance) from the University of North Carolina at Greensboro. She is also a U.S. Air Force veteran, having served in the Medical Service Corps in both active duty and reserve capacities from 2014 to 2022. Her clinical background primarily focuses on treating both acute and chronic neurological disorders affecting speech, language, voice, cognition, and swallowing in acute, sub-acute, and private practice settings. Kat is certified in LSVT and trained in LMRVT. She currently resides in Italy.

Instructions
Learners must be present for the entire duration of each session to receive credit. Partial credit is not available with each session.
Learners must complete a program evaluation within 24 hours of course completion to receive credits for ASHA CEU.
After completing steps 1 and 2, learners will receive a certificate via email within two weeks of course completion.
The date on your certificate serves as proof that you completed the course. For those enrolled in the ASHA Registry, the course completion date will be the date it is recorded. It may take up to three months for the course to appear on your ASHA Registry transcript.
